Various people have written to me suggesting I make certain additions to this site, and I have carried out some of them. Others have asked for me to sing the words in French. I certainly can't promise to do that.
Nonetheless I do plan to comply with some requests, and I also have plans of my own.
One day I shall finish my translation notes. I promise. Furthermore, I intend to take a fresh new look at my liberal translation and also add a verse-by-verse appraisal of the song.
The current scans are unsatisfactory. For a start they aren't straight on the page! I'll be doing some more scanning and producing a set of images - high-quality for people with fast connections to see, and smaller for other people to download.
Don't rule out my eventually getting round to extending this site to cover Chile's excellent anthem. No one who saw Zamorano and company belting it out at the 1998 World Cup will forget it. You can already download a 3Mb wave file here. I have actually scanned in all seven pages of the score. The files, in Photoshop 5.0 format (free advert: this programme is just wonderful), are currently gobbling up my housemate's disk space, waiting for me to JPEG-ify them and upload them. This should happen pronto, but then so should Glenn Hoddle's resignation. And if you consider how long ago he was sacked you'll realise just how sluggish I am...
